Pure Protein Shakes

When you first start up a diet, one of the first things you probably think about is to drink a pure protein shake a day. That may be the case, and to be honest, there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, most doctors will recommend that you intake a certain amount of proteins per day. You are probably saying "but we get proteins from meat, fish, poultry, why drink a shake too?"

It is true that proteins are found in everyday meats that we consume. But it is also true that those same meats may contain other things, the biggest problem is fat. A pure protein shake will give you all of those proteins that you need without the added extras like fat, simple sugars or carbs (which we all know carbs are a big no-no)

Pure protein shakes are good for a mid day snack, or maybe before or after a workout. They can help you get a quick pick-me up when you are nearing that home stretch, but have a few hours before your next meal. Plus, one of the things we've learned is that protein intake is essential to a healthier lifestyle.

But how much protein should your body take per day? The answer is based on an "Ideal body weight" which is calculated based on your height. Protein intakes are measured by your total calorie intake per day, with a percentage of those calories being proteins. An average would be about 10-15 percent of your total calorie intake. So using me as an example, a male of about 6 foot tall, my ideal body weight is roughly 180 lbs (I need to work out,) and I should be taking in approximately 37 grams of proteins. A pure protein shake can give me almost all the recommended intake in one sitting, leaving me to finish the intake with my supper. A win-win for everyone!
